Devastating Update on Cargo Plane Incident: Death Toll Climbs to 13

The total count of lives lost resulting from the transport jet that ignited and crashed has now reached 13, as confirmed by official reports.

Official's Announcement

Traveling to the Union’s vigil, I was informed of a additional fatality that lost their life as a result of the aircraft accident,” wrote the local official in a public communication. “My prayers is with the families, associates and co-workers of all who were killed in this week’s disaster. We will endure this collectively.”

Deceased Confirmed

A statement from the carrier named the pilots operating the aircraft as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts go out to each UPSer who has been touched and all in our local area – supporting you and making sure you receive the care and assistance you need is our priority,” the firm’s communication expressed.

Investigation Findings

Federal officials disclosed that the UPS cargo plane’s port side wing burst into flames and an engine detached just after liftoff from the airfield, resulting in the aircraft to plummet and explode into a blaze.

The NTSB has said it is investigating the jet’s service record, that was in the state for maintenance a period before the incident.

Flight tracking records revealed the jet was on the runway in San Antonio, Texas from the start of last month to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this jet was there in the facility,” said an investigator on later, not giving a exact date range. “We will review every piece of repairs that was done, even the San Antonio time, right up to the day of the trip.”

Findings of Vital Items

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were found, and the motor was found on the tarmac.

The devices – referred to as data containers – were built to survive collision damage and severe heat from fires, and they seemed to be undamaged when discovered within the remains. Investigators intend to examining information from the devices.

Aircraft’s last flight details indicated an altitude of that level and a rate of 210 mph prior to the impact.

Repair Record

Per Federal Aviation Administration records from 18 September, a fissure on a component inside the tank area needed repairs.

The company ST Engineering, which indicated it provides structural repairs for the company’s MD-11 and operates a service location in Texas, chose not to provide remarks, but expressed it would assist completely when officials contacted it.

Services Restart

Meanwhile, the hub operations continued that evening with its Next Day Air or night sort process, spokesperson the company official confirmed. Each of the three tarmacs at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were also back in operation.

The UPS package handling facility in the city is the firm’s biggest. The center hires more than a large number of workers in the region, handles three hundred flights per day and organizes more than 400,000 packages per hour.

Local Response

A memorial was conducted on the late afternoon of that date by the local labor union, which supports workers at the airfield, the firm’s biggest freight center.

Worker representatives, which represents staff, began the memorial with a moment of silence at 5.14pm, the estimated hour of the crash two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so sudden, so unforeseen,” the mayor spoke to the group of 200. “No one had a chance to bid farewell to each of those who we have mourned.”
